William G. Abel

Loving life partner, father, grandfather and brother passed away on October 15, 2025 at age 80. Predeceased by his parents Ralph & Margaret, and brother Gerry and sister Carole Lambert. Survived by his loving partner Nancy Ruprecht, son Geoffrey of CA, daughter Rebecca Abel-Kennedy(Adam Kennedy), son Mark(Kathleen Williams) of MA. His grandchildren Emily Abel-Rutter and Converse Kennedy; Charlotte and Willow Abel. Siblings Thomas of NY, Barbara Cannan(James) of IL, James(Joanne) of NY; brother-in-law Robert Lambert of NY; nieces and nephews Timothy, Michael and Peter Lambert; Cynthia Mack, Pamela Abel, Jaclyn Conlon; Matthew & Mark Cannan, Megan Jones. Special Friends, Scott Ruprecht and Todd(Natalie) Ruprecht.

Bill grew up in Rochester, NY and attended Aquinas Institute, Class of 1963. He received a Bachelor of Science, Class of 1967 and Master of Business Administration, Class of 1969 from Cornell University. While at Cornell he played QB for the Big Red football team.  He had a successful career in sales working at P&G, Dr. Pepper, Wilson Sporting Goods, Black & Decker, Knoll Furniture, NK Lawn & Garden and Langeveld Bulb Co.

He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. He loved sports especially golf, football, baseball and basketball. His favorite activity was spending time with his soulmate Nancy and beloved children and grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held 10am-12pm Monday, October 27 at St. Joseph Church in North Bend, w/Mass at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Aquinas Institute-Abel Family Endowed Scholarship, Rochester, NY.
