Timothy J. Ridder died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 17, 2023 at the age of 76. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Diane (nee Rose), loving father of Scott (Kathy) Ridder, Sherry (Dale) Poland, and Angie (Kevin) Bold, cherished grandfather of Christy (Brandon) Fromeyer, Britney (Ryan) Hammoor, Megan (Jake) Hallion, Austin Bold, Michael Ridder, Taylor Poland, and Emily Ridder, great grandfather to Kylie, Mason, and Eli Hammoor, and the dear brother of Tony (Linda) Ridder, Gay (the late Hap) Roth, Ted (Julie) Ridder, Jeannie (Chris) Leonard, Mary (Tom) Croft, Pete (Pam) Ridder, and John (Jody) Ridder. Treasured uncle, cousin, in-law, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Agatha Ridder.
Tim was born on November 3rd 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the third of eight children. He was a lifelong westsider who graduated from Elder High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967, stationed at Fort Sills in Oklahoma during the Vietnam War. He married his high school sweetheart Diane Rose in 1968 and they raised three children together. Tim worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years and estimated that he walked enough miles to circle the globe several times. Tim took great pride in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan who followed and supported the Reds, Bengals, U.C. Bearcats, and especially the Elder Panthers throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was attending Elder football games with his brothers, rarely missing a game. He also enjoyed playing softball and golf, as well as discussing history and politics. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh particularly while watching “dumb” comedies, his fondness for giving silly nicknames, his work ethic, his unwavering dedication to family, and his incredible ability to persevere through adversity.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45233, from 4:00pm until the memorial service at 6:00pm. A gathering to celebrate Tim’s life will be held following the memorial service at the Aston Woods Clubhouse, 3745 Chestnut Park Ln, Cleves, OH 45002.
