Thomas K. Kennedy, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Apr. 20, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Linda M. Kennedy, devoted father of Thomas L. (Emily) and Joseph R. (Nicole), loving papa of Celia, Bree, and Paige, dear brother of Timothy M. (Nancy) and David L. (Laura), dear brother-in-law of Bob (Pixy) Berting, Barb Berting, Jean (Jim) Essen, Nancy (Tim) Kennedy, Sandy Rider, and Mike Berting. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence C. and Mary M. (nee Abt) Kennedy, his in-laws Robert W. and Rita J. (nee Leonard) Berting, and his brothers-in-law William A. Berting and James L. Berting. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tom lived for his family. His relationship with his loving wife Linda, his soulmate, is the type of perfection everyone strives to achieve. They met 50 years ago and have been married for 46 wonderful years. Lessons to always put family first and a shared love of sports made him the ultimate role model and best friend to Tom and Joe. Tom was overjoyed to welcome Emily and Nicole into his family as daughters-in-law, the perfect partners for his sons. His granddaughters Celia, Bree and Paige were the light of his life. Dance parties, spoiling with sweets and Beach Boys filled the room with smiles and laughter.
Born and raised in Cheviot, he attended St. Martin of Tours, was a proud LaSalle Lancer and UC Bearcat. He enjoyed a long career with Procter and Gamble in Finance and Accounting cultivating many strong friendships along the way.
A devout Catholic, Tom dedicated himself to his family and community. He is still known as “Coach K” to countless former Our Lady of Victory baseball, soccer and basketball students — always prioritizing fun, teamwork and fostering lasting friendships. As a Eucharistic minister and longtime festival volunteer, he demonstrated his faith through prayerful service.
Tom always dreamed of talking sports on the radio. His dream came true and lasted 30 years as part of the Prep Sports Radio Network, broadcasting pregame, halftime and postgame shows for Elder High School football games with some of his best friends. His voice, insights and special shoutouts became a Friday night fixture in living rooms, cars and backyards across the world.
Tom was the life of the party. His infectious laugh will never be forgotten by those who have heard it. He saw the best in moments big and small, always taking the time to remind everyone “this is what it’s all about.”
He will be missed greatly by so many, but his spirit will live on through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
