It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheridan Ann Carle (Zachman) age 81 who died on June 28th after a battle with cancer.
Sherry was born in 1945 in Miami Beach, Florida at the base hospital of the United States Naval Air Station Miami. As a child, she lived in many cities connected to her father’s career as an engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers including Ludlow Kentucky; Miami Beach; San Francisco; Lafayette, IN; Maumee, OH; Norman, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C.
Eventually, her family returned to her ancestral hometown, Cincinnati’s west side and she joined her many, many, many relatives of the Neiheisel and Vetter families. During her formative years, she attended St. Ursula Academy, Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and Mother of Mercy high school, where she made dozens of friends who have traveled with her through life.
While in high school, she met her husband, Tony, the love of her life, and after a long, long, long courtship married at St. Martin’s church and started a family in Cheviot.
Upon high school graduation, she enrolled on a full scholarship to become an X-Ray Technician through Good Samaritan Hospital. Her first job was at the original St. George Hospital. Over the years, she would later hold many jobs in the health care industry including stints as an instructor at Cincinnati Metropolitan College and office manager at Western Family Physicians and Case Consultants, Inc. In between, she returned to school to earn her real estate license and became a realtor with Maucher Realty as well as co-founded Diagnostic Medical Services, Inc., a medical diagnostic personnel staffing company working with hospitals across the tri-state.
Sherry cared deeply about her patients, students and co-workers and was dedicated to providing attention and care to every endeavor she pursued.
Sherry’s greatest joy was being a grandmother to Tyler, McKenzie and Jessa Carle and Abigail Smyth. She lived for their soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball and softball games and their dance and cheer events. She was thrilled when she got to travel and attend college-level competitions to cheer them on. Go Boilermakers! Go Norse! Go Knights!
Sherry is survived by her husband, Anthony; her sons Matthew and Jeremy; her daughters Michelle Carle (Nannette Boyd) and Rachel Smyth (Kerry); her brother Jay Zachman (Janice) of Fort Myers, Florida and brother-in-law Mark Carle of Vietnam. She was preceded in death by her father William and mother Irma/Botzie (Neiheisel) and sister Kim Wadsworth.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, July 9th, 9-10 am, at St. Joseph Church of Cleves (25 East Harrison. 45052. North Bend) followed by a mass at 10 am.
After the mass, a meal and celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at the Aston Oaks Golf Club (1 Aston Oaks Drive. 45052. North Bend).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Sherry’s name to her favorite charity Kindervelt of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she also volunteered or the Blue Ash Hospice of Cincinnati where she received exceptional care.
