Mary Finn, age 87, of Cincinnati, passed away on April 18, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on May 6, 1938, to Florentine and Herman Kreimer. She was the oldest of thirteen children, with seven brothers (three of whom preceded her in death) and five sisters. In 1963, she married Robert (“Bob”) Finn, who preceded her in death. Together they raised four children: Erin, Patricia (Steve) Thornton, Brian (Rebecca), and Kevin (Leslie). She was also a proud grandmother to four grandsons: Jacob, Zachary, Andrew, and Bode.
A devout Catholic, Mary was a graduate of Mercy High School and Edgecliff College, where she earned a degree in education. She dedicated part of her career to teaching grade school in area Catholic schools.
Mary approached life with resilience and few complaints. She had many interests and talents. A self-taught chef, she prepared delicious meals with ease, never deterred by the number of guests. She enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and cooking with fresh ingredients. Her meals were at the center of many cherished family and friend memories, especially the Kreimer Family Christmas Eves and New Year’s Day gatherings. Her home was always open to guests— and to her children’s pets as well.
In addition to cooking, Mary was an avid gardener, artist, and craftswoman who worked with tiles and created stained glass. She was a member of Western Hills Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf. Over the years, she also played tennis and enjoyed snow skiing.
Mary loved to travel. She explored Germany, Italy, Ireland, and most recently Portugal. She cruised in the Caribbean and Alaska and traveled extensively throughout the United States. Many summers were spent with Bob and their children on memorable trailer trips to destinations including Rocky Mountain National Park—where they honeymooned— Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Yosemite, Mount Rushmore, and southern Canada.
Mary was a dedicated volunteer and served as a board member for several organizations, including Western Hills Garden Club, Seton High School, Our Lady of Victory, and Overhill Swim Club. She was especially devoted to the Delhi Historical Society, where she served on the board since 2002; she chaired numerous committees and held the role of president for much of that time.
Mary was always on the go. She is remembered for her strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 23, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm at the Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb rd. 45233 Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday April 24 at 10:30 am Sacred Heart Church, 2733 Massachusetts Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45225. Interment will take place at St. Joseph New Grounds Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to “Delhi Historical Society, Mary Finn” 468 Anderson Ferry Road, Cincinnati, OH 45238 (they are planning to use those funds for special programming in Mary’s name) or Sacred Heart Church, 2733 Massachusetts Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225.
