Marilyn C. Goodfriend

Marilyn Goodfriend (nee Schenkel) was born on July 16, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025 in her hometown. She was 92 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Goodfriend and the cherished daughter of the late John and Alberta Schenkel. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother Jack (and wife Sylvia) Schenkel and brother Robert (survived by Donna) Schenkel.

Marilyn spent most of her life working for the Cincinnati Public School systems. She found joy in cooking wonderful meals for those she loved and hand-making afghans for all the new arrivals to the family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and fishing with the love of her life, Bob.

Her legacy continues through her loving children: Danny Goodfriend (Marty), Deb Scott (Ron), Diane Reinshagen (Doug), and David Goodfriend (Lori). She was a devoted grandmother to Amy Carr (Colm), Christie Wallace (Logan), Danielle Johnson (Sam), Holly Dennis (Chad), Jamie Fuller (Brian), Andy Goodfriend (Molly), Leslie, Alexis, Kylie, and Harvey. Her joy expanded as she became a great-grandmother, or better known as “GG”, to Declan, Finley, Dempsey, Cillian, Burke, Josie, Oliver, Mabel, Keegan, Avery, Owen, Grayson, Elizabeth, Charlie, Will, Connor, Teddy, Ellie, Lane and Reese.

In her final days, Marilyn’s spirit remained determined as she sang “You Are My Sunshine,” a fitting tribute to the light she shared with all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort and joy to all whose lives she touched.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Marilyn’s memory go to Tunnels to Towers.

The family will host a private celebration of life.
