Kenneth “Bud” Carter entered into his Heavenly home on July 23, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and lived a life of dedication and service to his family, his country, and to God. Bud was a proud Marine and combat veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War as a corporal, and later served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was utterly devoted to his beloved wife of 57 years, Sue Carter, and to his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of Price Hill Church of Christ for six decades, during which he was a Deacon, an Elder and Bible School Superintendent. He served the church in numerous ways and believed deeply in the redemption of his Lord, Jesus Christ.
Bud was an avid hunter and fisher. He loved his dogs, especially Dottie, and despite many protests to the contrary, he also loved the family cat, Bailey. He loved to joke with people and had a mischievous streak. He was generous and welcoming, and never met a stranger in his whole life. Everywhere you went, he could find a friend who was happy to see him. Even a trip to the grocery store could mean a long chat with his favorite cashiers. In his later years, he loved to spend time at Bayley Place and had such a large circle of friends there that his family teased that the only thing getting exercised at the gym were his vocal cords. His death leaves an unimaginably big gap in many people’s lives.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie (Schuerch) Carter, his brother, Tommy Carter, his sisters, Shirley Ann (Frank) Varin and Rosetta (Willard) Ealy, his adopted mother, Elizabeth Clifton, and his hunting buddy, Charlie McCormack. He is survived by his wife, Sue Carter, his daughters, Kelly Carter and Shannon (David) Du Mont, his grandchildren, Zachary Deffinger, Sabine Du Mont, and Eric Du Mont, and so many more friends he made along the way.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Monday, July 29 at Price Hill Church of Christ, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Friends are also invited to attend the burial at Baltimore Pike Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
