Judith M. Matzet

Judith "Judy" M. Matzet (née Byrum), age 86, passed away on September 19, 2026.

Judy was born on July 8, 1940, in Cincinnati to the late Robert Sr. and Mary (née Gehring) Byrum. Throughout her career, she took great pride in her work as an executive secretary, bringing organization, dedication, and professionalism to everything she did.

Above all else, Judy centered her life around her family. She found her greatest joy in attending her family's many events, cheerleading from the sidelines and celebrating every milestone. Her loved ones could always count on her signature cherry crisp—a cherished staple at family gatherings—as well as her love for cardinals and a simple strawberry milkshake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Donna; and her brothers, Robert Jr. and Larry.

Judy’s memory will be cherished by her surviving family, including her sons, Matt and Dan (Amy); and her beloved grandchildren, Nick, Cory, Zachary, Ryan, Sydney, Bailey, and Carly. She is also survived by her caring nephews, Wayne (Denise), Tim (Liz), Jeff (Katie), and Kevin (Teresa); as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews: Jonathan, Jessica, Allison, Sarah, Henry, Grant, Abby, and Joe.

Her warmth, dedication to her work, and unwavering love for her family leave a sweet and lasting legacy.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Bayley Senior Care (990 Bayley Place Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45233). Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery (810 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45233).

Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time, especially the nurses and aides at Bayley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 for cancer research.
