John Anthony Lyons, age 72, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Born on October 15, 1954, in Cincinnati, John spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
John attended Elder High School and later Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he pursued studies that led to a career in engineering. Known for his skill with his hands and his practical knowledge, John was the kind of person who could fix just about anything. He took great pride in teaching his children how to build, repair, and problem-solve lessons that will live on through them.
John was truly the life of the party. He had an infectious personality and a natural ability to make those around him laugh. He loved spending time with his longtime friends, especially during lively games of euchre or a round of golf. A devoted Cincinnati sports fan, he could often be heard cheering on his favorite team with enthusiasm and a familiar phrase: “Come on Bengals.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leigh Ann Lyons, as well as his father, James Lyons, and his brother, Steve Lyons.
John is survived by his loving children: Jeffrey Lyons (Allison), Keith Lyons, William Lyons (Megan), and Shelby Lyons (Gabriel). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Lee, Ariana, and Elliott, who brought him tremendous joy. He is also survived by his mother, Joy Lyons, and his sisters, Cathy and Sandy, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd. on Thursday March 12, 2026 from 9:30am until 10:30am. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am at Our Lady of Victory Church
