James E. Wood

James ‘Jim’ Edward Wood, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on March 31, 2026 at 68 years young. Born on October 25, 1957, Jim grew up in West Price Hill on W Liberty, graduated from Western Hills High School in 1975, and attended the University of Cincinnati for a period of time. He stayed true to his roots and always proudly resided on the West Side of Cincinnati.

He was the son of late US Army Sergeant James W. Wood and late Dorothy M. Wood (Hicks). Grandchild of the late Edward and late Clara Hicks. Beloved Father of Jasmine Ritter (Chris) and Racquel Wood (Brian Thomas). Devoted Grandfather of Arabella and Axel Ritter.

Jim recently retired from the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati after 35 years. He was also known in his spare time as the sociable and lighthearted employee of Deer Run Country Club and Western Hills Country Club.

Beyond his career and family, Jim had a deep love for all sports, including bowling, golf, baseball, and football, and was especially a devoted Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals fan. He was a Cincinnati Bengals season ticket holder for 24 years until his passing. Jim also loved reminiscing on his youth baseball days and meeting his idol, Pete Rose.

His laughter and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him.
