Donald "Don" E. Huff

Donald E. Huff, known affectionately as Don, was born on June 3, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at the age of 98.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris, with whom he shared 72 years of marriage and a lifetime of devotion. Together they raised six children. He was also preceded in death by two sons, David and Michael Huff.

Don is survived by his loving daughters: Pattie Purnell; Susan (Bob) Herzog; Donna (Rick) Schmithorst; and Diane (Dan) Dearing. He was a proud grandfather to nine, a cherished great-grandfather to sixteen, and a great-great-grandfather to one.

A proud Patriot, Don served his country as a World War II Veteran in the United States Navy Seabees. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a skilled craftsman and entrepreneur, owning and operating Don Huff Building and Remodeling. His dedication to quality workmanship and integrity earned him the respect of clients and colleagues alike.

Don was also a gifted artist, lovingly known as the “Painter of Memories.” He painted hundreds of oil paintings, including portraits, landscapes, and beloved Cincinnati landmarks that reflected his deep appreciation for beauty and detail. Music was another lifelong passion; he played the drums and trombone and performed with many bands and orchestras over the years.

Don will be remembered for his creativity, strong work ethic, love of family, and the quiet pride he took in a life well lived. He also had a wonderful and unique sense of humor and was always eager to put a smile on everyone’s face. His legacy lives on through his family, his art, the laughter he shared, and the many lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Dominion Senior Living of Florence, where Don spent the remaining two years of his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dominion Senior Living, St Elizabeth Hospice of Florence, and VA of Florence for the love and care they provided to our Dad. From the director to the nursing staff, aides, and chefs, each person demonstrated a genuine passion for what they do, and their compassion meant more to the family than words can express.

Funeral services will be held on December 20, 2025, at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road, Delhi, Ohio 45233. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following.
