David J. Steichen

Dave Steichen, Sr. passed away at the age of 84 on May 14, 2026. He is survived by Carol E. (nee Galles) Steichen, his beloved wife of 60 years, and his loving children DJ (Karin), Patrick (Leah), and Penny (David). Dave is the treasured grandfather of Liam, Seth, Aaron, Hope (John), and Lily, and the devoted great-grandfather of Azelie Rose. Dave is preceded in death by six brothers (Roman, Ray, Tom, Bob, Don, Jim) and one sister (Ramona) and is survived by two sisters (Margaret, Mary).

Dave grew up in Adams, Minnesota, and met his wife Carol (of Adrian, Minnesota) in Rochester, Minnesota. Dave was dedicated to his Catholic faith and blessed others with his kindness.

Through his job with the government, Dave gave his family the gift of seeing the world. After retiring to Sedona, AZ, Dave and Carol moved to Cincinnati, OH, next door to Penny and David’s family. Dave anticipated people’s needs and helped without seeking credit, could fix almost anything, and enjoyed the simple things in life - time with family, shared meals followed by cards. He could often be found spending time in his garden or in his garage working on a building project. He delighted in his grandchildren. His gentle presence, selflessness, steadfast love and friendship, and quick wit will be forever cherished.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 9:30-10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3450 Lumardo Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Burial will be at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at St. Antoninus Undercroft.
