In Loving Memory of David F. Arnold
July 30, 1943-July 1, 2026
David F. Arnold, 82, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. Dave was proud to call Cincinnati home throughout his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Katherine (Schwab) Arnold; also siblings and their spouses, Jean and Joe Marlatt and Jackie and Jack McGrail.
Dave proudly served his country in the National Guard, carrying the values he learned there throughout his life. He built a successful career in sales. Dave had an incredible gift for remembering names, faces, and stories, making everyone feel like an old friend. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and playful spirit could brighten any room.
Dave shared twenty wonderful years together with his beloved wife, Pat Salmon, whose love and companionship brought him much happiness. He was the proud father of Melissa (Tony) Denier, David (Kimberly) Arnold, Sarah (John) Humphrey, and Josh (Vera) Arnold. Their family also included stepchildren, Jeff, Steve, Diane, and Andy, along with their spouses. Dave also cherished the time he spent with his 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One of his greatest joys included attending their activities, telling them stories, or simply making them laugh; he treasured every moment spent with them.
Dave loved traveling with friends and family, cheering on UC sports, a great Manhattan and a sweet treat. Good conversation, plenty of laughter, and family and friends were the times he loved most.
Dave will be deeply missed by his loving family, his many dear friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that he is at peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 12:00 at St. Simon Church. Family and friends are invited to arrive shortly before Mass starts to pay respects. Interment at St. Joseph Old Cemetery will take place at a later date. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow Mass at St. Simon’s Father Plagge Hall, 825 Pontius Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45233. All are invited.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites all who knew Dave to honor his memory in a way he would appreciate: gather with family and friends, raise a Manhattan, enjoy something sweet, cheer on the Bearcats, and tell a good story-especially one that gets a little better each time it is told.
