Christina Bender

Christina Bender (nee Economopulos), 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on September 1, 1932, to loving parents George and Petrula, Christina was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati’s West Side.

She was the beloved wife of the late George "Bunny" Bender, with whom she shared many cherished years. A devoted matriarch, Christina centered her life around her family, and her spirit was characterized by her generosity, love, and strength. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jodie Bender, and her siblings, Sophia Guethlein and Konstantinos "Deno" Economopulos.

Christina loved cruising and traveling to warm places—experiences that brought her both joy and treasured family memories. During the summer she could be found walking for hours in the pool. She also enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino for a bit of fun and excitement.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Julie (Gary) Kallmeyer and Jeanie (Andrew) Edrich. She was the cherished Yiayia of Christina Kallmeyer, Jillian (Austin) Madden, Megan Edrich, Drew Edrich, and Courtney Edrich, and the proud great-Yiayia of Ellie Madden and Baby Madden. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road. Funeral Service Thursday, September 11th at 11 a.m., Holy Trinity – St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road.
