Chris Goerner

On Thursday, May 29th, Christine Goerner passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 59—just one week shy of her 60th birthday. She gained her beautiful angel wings after a hard-fought battle with illness, giving it her all until her very last breath, showing the true fighter she always was.

Christine wasn’t just a fighter—she was absolutely the most amazing, strongest, funniest, and sassiest person anyone could have ever known. She was selfless to a fault, always putting others first, and never backed down, no matter how tough life got. Her kindness, sprinkled with her signature sarcasm, brought comfort and laughter to everyone around her, even in the hardest times. She commanded a presence in every room she entered because it was so easy to be drawn to her love and light.

Christine was the beloved and devoted wife of Bill, and a loving mom to Sheryl (Mike), Kenny (Krystle), Alex, and Kimberly. But more than anything, she was “Mamaw” to her cherished grandchildren: Corey, Isaiah, Colstyn, Joey, Alexander, Alexis, and Khloe. They were her world, and she was theirs.

Christine also leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of those who knew her, including her sister, Kathy Moody-Rehm (Steve); her mother, Betsy Armstrong-Kidd (Steve); her mentor and aunt, Jane Rayls (Kenny); her cousin Brandon Rayls (Melissa); her treasured nieces and nephew, Hannah (Noah), Emma, and Austin; and her grandpa, John Wendling.

She was preceded in death by her best friends and siblings, Janie McFarland and Joe Moody, as well as her beloved dogs Rosie, Teddy, and Casey (just to name a few).

She also leaves behind her stepchildren whom she loved so much, including Melissa (Jimmy) McQueen and Chastity (David) Hornsby as well as an endless host of great-aunts, cousins, and countless adoring friends and co-workers—a true testament to the beauty of her character and the love she inspired in everyone who knew her.

While Christine’s sun rose and set around her grandbabies, she also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Cincinnati Bengals, ghost hunting, collecting anything related to skulls, antiques, and blankets, trips to the beach, Starbucks coffee, tattoos, and Halloween. She embraced life fully and lived it on her own terms—always with a touch of sass, a big heart, and an unshakable spirit. We loved her and always will from now until the end of forever, but she always loved us more.
