Cathy Jean King (née Querner) was born on February 2, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to her loving parents, Thelma “Peggy” and Charles “Charlie” Querner. She grew up in Northside, the youngest of four children.
Cathy worked at Christ Hospital for 35 years in Central, where many co-workers became friends, and some even became family. In the 1980s and 1990s, you could often find her behind the bar at her second job, JD’s Honky Tonk.
Cathy was always the life of the party—she never met a stranger. She was outgoing and charismatic, with a way of making everyone feel loved. Her heart and generosity were truly one of a kind. She was a mother and grandmother figure to anyone in need. Her happiest moments were those spent with her family—nothing meant more to her. If you knew her, you knew she was funny—effortlessly. Quick-witted, loyal, and as honest as they come. Cathy loved the Reds and Bengals, a true fan who watched every single game.
On April 14, 2026, Cathy passed peacefully at home, surrounded by love.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma (née McGuff) and Charles Querner; her sister, Judy; her brother, Charles “Chuck”; her granddaughter, Jaelyn Gober; her mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Ruth King; her nieces, Kim and Tina; and her nephew, Rob.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Tim King; her children, Tiffany (Will) Gober and Lyle (Jessica) Faulkner; and her beloved grandchildren, Deron, Willie, King, Markus, Karaya, Naudia, Clyde, Weston, Graham, and Sadie. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Nylah and Vivian.
She is also survived by her sister, Charlene (Roger) Brehm; her brother-in-law, Chuck (Betsy) King; her nephews, Darrell, Bo, Cody, Cory, and Colby; her niece (and goddaughter), Jaime; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren, cousins, and dear friends. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her special friends, Robin and Jodi, for the love, care, and compassion they gave her until the very end.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the signs she leaves behind. Like the North Star shining brightly in the night sky, her love will continue to guide us—steady, constant, and forever present. She may be gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2026 at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd from 12pm noon until the time of the funeral service at 2pm.
The family respectfully asks that you only wear Cincinnati Reds and Bengals attire to the funeral. There will be a celebration of life following the Cemetery at the Elks Lodge in Cheviot, 3621 Glenmore Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45211
