Brenton Schratt, age 86, passed away on August 17, 2025, in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was born and spent nearly his entire life. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Brenton later enjoyed a successful career at Fields Electrical Sales, retiring 20 years ago to a life rich in happy hours, good friends, and the love of his family.
Brenton found true joy in staying active — whether walking the paths of Fernbank Park, tending to his garden, fishing, or keeping his mind sharp with a good book. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Bishop) Schratt; his parents, Mildred and Ernest Schratt; and his sister Evelyn (Jim) Peters.
He is survived by his twin sisters, Carol (Buzz) Frye and Gail Scully; in-laws Aileen and Lark Hoffman; numerous nieces and nephews , his children Gwen (J.D.) Bender and Tim (Dana) Schratt; and grandchildren Kiersten (Aaron) Clark, Jack Bender, Emma Schratt, Brent Bender, Abby Schratt, and Sami Schratt. Brenton was also the proud great-grandfather of a spirited and rapidly growing group of the world’s most outstanding great-grandchildren — a source of immense pride and joy.
Brenton counted maintaining his independence among his greatest accomplishments, aided by the compassionate care of Hospice of Cincinnati and the nurses of Western Hills Home Healthcare.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius on the Ohio Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his cherished St. Aloysius on the Ohio Catholic Church or Hospice of Cincinnati, in gratitude for their loving support.
