Bernadine "Bernie" Kindt

Bernadine Mary Kindt (nee Huber) passed away peacefully February 7, 2026. Beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Bernadine Huber, Bernie is survived by her children Mike (Lindsey), Patty (Joe), Anne (Jeff), Joe (Jill), Mary (Dave), Sarah (Craig) and her grandchildren Abbey, Sam, Johnathan, Julia, Anna, Elizabeth, Emma, Olivia, Riley, Clara, Lauren, Jacob, Landon, and Jackson.

She is also survived by a big and wonderful family including siblings Joe/Rick (Barb) Huber, Paul (Cathy) Huber, Kate (late Ed) Wesseling, Angie (Chuck) Ferguson, Greg (Bobbi) Huber, Dorothy Schooler, Sally (Larry) Roemer.

Bernie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack, her newborn son, Stephen, and sisters Martha (Jerry) Bain as well as her sister Pat and her husband Bill Cain. Bernie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20, 1940. She was a proud graduate of Seton High School and Mount St. Joseph University and along with Jack she greatly valued Catholic education.

Bernie didn’t just love to cook and bake; her kitchen became the heart of family gatherings of all sizes. It didn’t matter how many people, somehow everyone was welcomed. Feeding the people she loved is how she communicated her love and care without ever needing words. She was happiest with her home full of family and friends baking Christmas cookies, and sharing a glass of wine. She also loved a good road trip, a passion handed down from her father and shared with her own children. For Bernie and Jack, no journey was ever too far when it came to supporting their kids or attending a grandchild’s special event. Bernie and Jack owned J.M. Kindt Jewelry in Del-Fair shopping center for 23 years. She was a proud owner and found joy in beautifully decorating the store windows for each holiday. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will always be remembered for her toughness in spirit, fierce devotion to family, and a faith that helped her guide many of those around her with a remarkable steadiness. She helped many find calm in the storm in ways that are hard to explain but easy to recognize. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Seraph Parish on Saturday, February 14 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to St. Francis Seraph School https://www.sfsschool.com or the Alzheimer’s Association. https://act.alz.org/donate.
