Joan Alma Bacon, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 2nd 2021 in the comfort of her home. Joan was born May 26th 1935 to Ruth Ann (Schroeder) and Frederick Rolfes. She graduated from Seton High School in 1953 when she met the love of her life Donald A. Bacon Sr., they married a few years later on October 20th 1956. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage together and many children. The beloved mother of seven; the late Donald Bacon Jr, the late Ronald (Kathy) Bacon Sr, John (Christy) Bacon, Tom (Shari) Bacon, Teresa (Rick) Beare, Anne Young, and Michael (Tara) Bacon. Dear sister to the
Late Robert J Rolfes Sr (Delores), Late Frederick E Rolfes (Rosemary), Claire A Piening (Al), Mary R Palmer (DeWayne) and Late Sister Mary Frederick OFM.
Don and Joan started their family business, Don Bacon Appliance Service, together in 1958. She was the foundation that the company was built on, while raising her children and tending to her family. Joan was a faithful servant of God and devoted much of her time to the church and supporting the missions. Joan and Don enjoyed golfing, bowling, hosting parties, and traveling the world together. Joan most enjoyed spending time with her family whether on vacations or at home.
She was the loving grandmother to 19; Ron (Danielle) Bacon Jr., Jenny (Eric) Ilse, the late Joe Bacon, Kristie (Brian) Bain, Adam Bacon, Alli (Adam) Davis, Justin (Abri) Bacon, Logan Beare, Colan Beare, Morgan Beare, McKenzie (Vinny) Gutierrez, Maddie Young, Hannah Bacon, Andy Bacon, Katie Bacon, Mary Bacon, Olivia Bacon, Jeremy Bacon, Evalyn Bacon. And the great-grandmother of many more.
Joan continued making memories in her home with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed summertime grill outs, pool days, and sunsets. Not to mention her favorite snack, ice cream. Often saying, “You’re never too full for ice cream, it slides down the cracks!” She enjoyed hosting holidays or spontaneous visits. Anything that filled her house with family would fill her heart with joy, but leave her with an empty cookie jar.
Joan’s kindness, generosity of spirit, gentle nature, and unconditional love will be missed by all who knew her. Joan is preceded in death by her husband Donald Bacon Sr., her sons Donald Bacon Jr. and Ronald Bacon Sr., and her grandson Joseph Bacon. She is survived by her five remaining children, eighteen remaining grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday 8/12 at Radel Funeral Home 650 Neeb Rd Cincinnati, Ohio 45233. Funeral service will be held on Friday 8/13 at 11 am Shiloh United Methodist Church 5261 Foley Rd Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. The burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery 4500 Foley Rd Cincinnati, Ohio 45238.
