Eugene F. beloved husband of Sandra (Nee: Smithmeyer) Duesing for 64 years. Loving father of Denise (Bruce) Lucki, Amy Wolfert, George (Kathleen) Duesing, Mickey (Dave) Buller and the late Greg Duesing. Dear father-in-law of Michele Duesing. Devoted grandfather of Joy (Brian), Brad (Lauren), Sean, Alexandra (Troy), Danielle (Nate), Ryan (Becca), Kyle, Cassie, Andrew, Brady and Nathaniel. Cherished great-grandfather of Barrett, Louie, Cece, Trevor, Weston, Nora and Mia. Dear brother of Carol Maddox, Mary (Jack) Grau, Joan (Jerry) Lynn and the late Father Thomas Duesing. Also survived by numerous other family and friends. Passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Gene was born on October 15, 1935 to August and Julia (Vale) Duesing. He had an idyllic childhood growing up in Western Hills where he and his brother and three sisters roamed the ravine behind their home and walked everywhere. He was a proud graduate of Elder High School in 1953. He had great athletic abilities and played football, baseball and ran track. Gene attended the University of Louisville for one year on a football scholarship. In September 1955, he left college, as it was too large of a financial burden. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at that time and was honorably discharged in August of 1961. He met Sandy Smithmeyer in high school through mutual friends. They got married on April 12, 1958. Gene and Sandy raised five children together and have been influential in each of their 11 grandchildren’s lives, as well as their 7 great grandchildren’s lives. Gene’s career was primarily as a pharmaceutical sale representative working for Perdue Fredrick, Lemon Pharmaceutical Company, and he retired in 2005 from Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Gene was passionate about many things with his family topping the list, followed by football, golf and most things sports related. He enjoyed watching youth, high school, college and professional sports. He was fortunate enough to be apart of his grandchildren’s lives in schools, academics and career choices. He never missed a thing for anyone. Gene was everyone’s biggest support and cheerleader in life. Each and every grandchild held a special place in his heart. And, in recent times, he still enjoyed getting on the floor to play with his seven great grandchildren. Gene, aka Bengal Bob, was a mega fan and ticket holder of the Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed tailgates, as well as watching games on television at home with family. Gene was president of Delhi Athletic Association and coached his sons and many of their friends. Another thing he greatly enjoyed was golfing with family and friends. Gene and Sandy were blessed with life long friends whom they share many great memories with.

Gene was a kind hearted, hardworking man of integrity. He was a man of faith and member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. He was friendly, an optimist, and never met a stranger. Gene had a hardy infectious laugh and was an engaging story teller. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his good nature, kind heart, sense of humor, and devotion to God and his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tues. January 3, 2023 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 810 Neeb Road, 45233. If so desired memorials may be made to the Delhi Food Pantry, 380 Greenwell Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238
